Debra, yes, it is one of three eggs which two hens tried to sit on at once. Interestingly, one hen sat for two, maybe two and a half weeks. At that point, her sister stole her eggs. Yet, when the chick was born, it claimed her original mother. (Even though her "original" mother is a surrogate herself, given that the egg was from yet another hen.) They are now separated from the chick-less sister hen, who now sits on two new eggs (because the other two are "duds".)
